Do you compost?

How do you compost? What do you mean? What is compost? These are questions probably raised in your mind.
As an amateur gardener, you hear this word quite often. How does it come about? At the same time, you ask yourself why, ‘Why do you compost?’

Growing a healthy garden

If we break down the components of a garden, here we have an example of, a designated area being filled with specific soil, seedlings, plants, shrubs and bushes and tall plants. In other words, these plants are to be cultivated for their flowers and/or food either edible or non edible.

What the process look like?

Now how it turns out depends on the condition of the soil. Meanwhile, how healthy the soil is, depends on what one adds to it. Hence, it is called amendment to the soil. As you can see, the process of making the soil healthier is called composting. In short, it involves adding nutrients to the soil mixture.

  • cardboards
  • worms casting
  • soil
  • water

The image above shows how composting is done. So, let us take a look at this. What exactly do we add to the mix? The nutrients, for instance, are food scraps and grass cuttings, cardboard and worms castings, etc.

This entire process is called composting, thereby ensuring that the ground remains healthy to grow healthy plants.

Is composting necessary?
What a great question. If composting involves the breaking down of nutrients into their basic forms, is it good for the environment?

In my opinion, I believe no matter where science chooses or how composting presents adverse effects on greenhouse emissions, I choose it as a necessary step in my garden. According to my understanding, it is still a safer option otherwise.

In conclusion, I rather have a beautiful garden to look at than a smelly and contaminated landscape that no one appreciates. If only, all of us, take the responsibility to keep our environment beautiful and luscious, we have a beautiful city to live in.

Autumn

Change of season

Autumn is the change of season from Summer to Fall. As the temperature transition from being hot to cool temperature. We get colors such as red, orange, yellow from the leaves of the trees.

Autumn – Activity in the Fall

Clean up the garden in the Fall. It is also the best time to transplant and plant new plants during this season. As autumn comes to a close, it is important to mulch or prepare the garden with compost for the next year’s planting cycle.

Autumn-November 5th 2024

A deep clean is absolutely necessary in preparation for a successful new gardening cycle in the coming year. In the same way, it is essential to clean up a corrupt and broken political system. In order for the people to trust their government leaders again.

Sometimes, in a critical moment, the extraordinary happens. Brave men and women will rise up and take a stance on the side of truth and justice. It is at this juncture, we notice strong heroes from amongst us who will risk their lives for others in the name of freedom and the love of the country. Therefore, we must never lose sight of this moment as it happens.

The country will remember this moment in history. When it turns around and it takes a different path to become the greatest nation it will ever be. Hence, in years to come, we will remember this day!

Good luck America! 🇺🇸 May you shine like a beacon before the world and the world looks on to you as you ride this tremendous tide to save democracy. Your children will remember this moment and thank you for fighting for them so their future will be bright, not just for them but for the children of the world to come.

May God be with you and God bless America! 🇺🇸

Welcome to Backyard Treasure:

This is a blog about my journey as an immature garden enthusiast. My journey began during the COVID 19 lockdown. California was lockdown for a little over two years in 2019 to 2021.

why I do what I do

Nothing impacted lives more than those two years where the entire world came to a halt and lockdown. How COVID changed the way we would see our world was absolutely undeniable. Whether it was for better or worse, we have yet to know for sure.

One thing for sure though, COVID changed mine. I began to focus on my love for photography and passion for gardening.

It was also during that stretch of time I noticed the treasure in my front and backyard gardens. Affirming me that I was able to capture beauty both in my surroundings and trails that I traveled.

Hence, I discovered my new found love for macro photography. The insects world bring a unique perspective that I did not see before. For that, I am truly grateful.

What is my dream for this adventure? How I want to be remembered? There are moments in my life that I wonder if anyone would miss me, to be honest. Does anyone out there even know I exist? As someone who is an introvert and has no intention to mangle with people, who is more comfortable talking to animals than humans.. that pretty much sums up who I am.

Historians write about important events throughout history. In a similar fashion, my story records the world I come to know and how I want to be remembered.

As a writer who embraces free speech, I share my political stance from time to time and I will not apologize for my thoughts and opinions about the political climate in today’s world.
